BEAVERTON DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL BIKE DAY

This is a free event on Saturday, May 6, hosted in partnership with Binary BrewingCarina’s Bakery, and Trek Bikes

On Saturday, May 6, the Beaverton Downtown Association (BDA), in partnership with Binary Brewing, Carina’s Bakery, and Trek Bicycle Beaverton, will host the first annual “Best Day Family Bike Ride.”

Guided by safety leaders and Beaverton Police Department bicycle officers, participants in this free event will enjoy a family-friendly, 1.5-mile bike ride through the heart of Downtown Beaverton. The bike ride will start at 12 p.m. at City Park (12500 SW 4th St.) and end at Trek Bicycle Beaverton (12345 SW Canyon Rd.) for an all-ages after-party. The after-party will feature activities for kids, free cookies from Carina’s Bakery for the first 100 guests, raffle prizes, and more.

Throughout the bike ride, participants will make pit stops at BDA’s new bike racks and repair stations for a live demonstration of how to properly use them. Purchased and installed via a grant from the City of Beaverton, these bike repair stations allow for free, on-the-fly bike maintenance throughout the city. The stations feature basic repair tools, and some have a tire pump built right in.

“The Beaverton Downtown Association is thrilled to host this event and present the new bike racks and repair stations,” says Kirsten Agard, Beaverton Downtown Association Board Chair. “These repair stations make our beloved downtown even more bike-transit friendly and accessible for all. We hope this encourages more people to explore our vibrant community and all that it has to offer.”

Those interested in participating are encouraged to register at the event page here. Pre-registered participants will receive raffle tickets toward prizes at the after-party. Participants will be required to wear a helmet, and are encouraged to bring a water bottle, and weather-appropriate items—the event will go on, rain or shine.

We look forward to riding together!
