BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Kirsten Agard
Board Chair
Kirsten Agard, is a seasoned professional with 19 years of experience in project, event, and change management, including 11 years in Mortgage Home Lending, she holds the rare Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) accreditation, ranking among the top 1% nationally and is the 2nd woman in Oregon to earn this honor. Kirsten is also the recipient of the American Bankers Association’s ’22 Emerging Leader Award, reflecting her dedication to leadership, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Serving on the Board since 2019 and as Board Chair of the BDA since January 2020, Kirsten is deeply committed to the downtown community and supporting local businesses, bringing her extensive experience and unwavering dedication to her role as a board member and leader.

Ruben Halperin
Vice Chair
Ruben is a resident of Beaverton and works in Beaverton as a Medical Director for Providence Health Plan. He is passionate about all the changes that are making downtown Beaverton an exciting destination. As an avid cyclist and walker and a physician with a passion for public health, he is excited about the improvements to the walking and biking infrastructure downtown that are making the area a more livable, vibrant place.

Shriya Marla
Secretary
Shriya Marla is currently a rising junior at Jesuit High School in Portland Oregon and serves as the Youth Council Chair and Executive Council Secretary on the board. From school to extracurriculars to sports and friends, living and growing up in the Beaverton community has enriched her life. Shriya is a trained Indian classical dancer, learns western classical piano, and is a member of the award winning speech and debate team at Sunset High School. In addition, she leads the South Asian Culture club in her school and actively volunteers at local non-profits. She strives to advocate for causes and initiatives that she is passionate about and is motivated to make a positive difference in the Downtown Beaverton community.

Jordyn Sherman
Treasurer
Jordyn Sherman is a Certified Public Accountant with over a decade of experience in financial planning, audit, and consulting across public and private sectors. After recently returning to Beaverton with her family, Jordyn is proud to serve as Treasurer of the Beaverton Downtown Association. She brings deep financial expertise and a strong commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and welcoming downtown. Jordyn is passionate about supporting small businesses and helping create a thriving community where everyone feels at home.

Jim Robison
Board Member
Jim has been a resident of Beaverton for most of his life. He is currently the Director of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships for the cybersecurity division of Online Business Systems. He has over 25 years of leadership experience, leading teams in Sales, Business Development, Marketingand Operations. Jim enjoys working out, golfing, is an avid walker, and is very proud of his two adult kids. Jim joined the Board in 2023 and is passionate about working on the continued improvements to downtown Beaverton.

Kalla Anand
Board Member
Kalla is an engineer, entrepreneur & educator. She immigrated to the US over 25 years ago, holds a master’s degree in Computer Science and worked in the hi-tech industry at Hughes, Intel, prior to becoming an educator. She also served as an advisor to a few non-profit organizations, is actively involved with the local Chamber of Commerce, small business organizations and volunteering at community events.

Ángel Briceño
Board Member
Ángel Briceño is a Commercial Banking Relationship Manager with over a decade of experience helping businesses grow and succeed. He works closely with clients across a variety of industries, providing strategic financial guidance, simplifying complex concepts, and supporting long-term growth. Ángel is passionate about community development and looks forward to contributing his experience to the Beaverton Downtown Association’s mission.

Michael Lee
Board Member
Michael Lee is a collaborative and creative problem solver with expertise in contract management, strategy, and cross-functional leadership. Michael is excited about making a positive impact on his hometown, creating lasting benefits for families and businesses in the community. He brings to the team a unique ability to connect people and ideas, always striving to simplify processes and make a meaningful difference.

Subba Somanchi
Board Member
Subba Somanchi has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Washington State University, Pullman, WA, and an MBA from Maryhurst University, Marylhurst, OR. He has over 30 years of work experience in the technical software industry, including the roles of Director and GM at Mentor Graphics and Siemens as well as CTO at Axiom Health Inc.
In this time, he has led engineering teams in startups as well as global multi-national organizations. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department as well as the Applied Science for Business program in the School of Business at Portland State University, Portland, OR.
He has served with the Visioning Advisory Committee and is a commissioner in the Beaverton Arts Commission with the City of Beaverton, OR. He has made Beaverton his home for the last 30 years, and lives here with his wife, their daughter and their cat. He enjoys distance running and experiencing the plethora of delectable cuisine choices in Beaverton.

Beverly Brooks
Board Member
Beverly Brooks is the founder and CEO of Amplified Business Solutions, a boutique digital marketing agency that scales local and national brands through strategic social media, influencer partnerships, publicity, and community storytelling.
A longtime Beaverton champion, Beverly has enthusiastically promoted BDA signature events — including the Boba Dash and Living Well in Beaverton — which quickly showed her how much support downtown businesses still need. “Keeping Beaverton businesses here and helping them grow isn’t just important — it’s personal.”
One standout downtown success: guiding a local restaurant through the challenges of government shutdowns, then scaling it into one of Yelp’s top-rated Portland-area restaurants.
An active member of the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce and enthusiastic supporter of every new business that opens in our community, Beverly is eager to bring her proven growth strategies to the BDA board and help shape a thriving, resilient downtown for decades to come.

Robert Galliher
Board Member
After completing his military service, Robert built a career focused on service, accountability, and community impact. He brings experience in operations, project management, expertise in mechanical engineering and quality assurance and management as well as chemical analysis and is committed to strengthening the Beaverton community.
Robert moved to Beaverton in 2025 and quickly became invested in the city’s growth, sense of community, and vibrant downtown. He is passionate about creating welcoming spaces, supporting local businesses, and contributing to Beaverton’s long-term vitality.
As a member of the Beaverton Downtown Association Board of Directors, Robert continues his lifelong commitment to service by helping advance economic vitality, community engagement, and downtown activation efforts.
In his free time, Robert enjoys working in his garage, enjoying a nice cold beer with his girlfriend at their favorite brewery, and volunteering at the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Dr. Jennifer Savage, DACM, MS, Dipl OM, LAc, MT (ASCP)
At large board member (Downtown Business Owner)
Dr. Jennifer Savage is a Doctor of Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine and the owner of Wú Wéi Wellness, located in the heart of Downtown Beaverton. She earned her DACM from the Pacific College of Health & Science in 2023 and her Master’s in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2021. Dr. Savage is a licensed acupuncturist in Oregon and certified in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine Dermatology, and more. She has extensive training in herbal medicine, acupuncture techniques, and holistic health practices. With a background in clinical laboratory science and secondary education, she has a unique perspective on both Western and Eastern medical practices. Dr. Savage’s wellness philosophy emphasizes the body’s ability to heal when balanced and considers physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental factors. Raised in Wisconsin, she moved to Oregon in 2017 to study Chinese medicine. Outside her practice, she enjoys spending time with her partner David, practicing yoga and Qigong, and exploring nature through hiking, gardening, and photography.

Kendra Huddleston
Board Member
Kendra Huddleston is a dedicated community leader deeply involved in strengthening Beaverton’s civic and nonprofit landscape. She currently serves as President of the Friends of the Beaverton City Library Board, where she leads strategic initiatives supporting literacy, community engagement, and the growth of the library’s nonprofit bookstore. Kendra is also the Walk Director for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Portland, bringing together businesses, volunteers, and community partners to advance brain health and dementia support.
Known for her collaborative approach and passion for community-building, Kendra is active in local networking circles and works to connect organizations with shared values and goals. She is committed to fostering partnerships that enrich Beaverton and support its vibrant, people-centered downtown.

Tim Yardley
Board Member
Tim Yardley is the owner of Halcyon Hosting LLC, a web hosting company based in Beaverton, Oregon. With over 20 years of experience in the web hosting industry, Tim has helped customers grow their sites through site optimization and failover solutions. His intellectual curiosity leads him to explore new and creative solutions to age-old problems, always thinking through challenges to develop workable outcomes. In addition to his hosting services, Tim actively supports the creative community by conducting workshops on topics such as securing domain names and setting up online shops for artists and crafters.
Tim is a crafter himself. He loves sewing as well as wood working.
In his free time Tim likes to take part in virtual reality events like sim racing, combat simulation and space exploration.

Adara Degnan

Adara is a Beaverton local who recently got back from her many travels abroad. She works with many companies promoting and creating social media content. She’s a big animal lover with loves helping out her local community. Adara is a big foodie so if you ever need recommendations she’s your girl!

Sophia Oakley
Co-Volunteer Coordinator
Sophia is a recent graduate of Reed College’s environmental studies program, where she studied the Portland Metro area’s history of land-use planning and urban revitalization. She also served as coordinator of the college’s volunteer program and is excited to use these skills to help get the Beaverton community involved with the BDA’s amazing work. Sophia currently works at a Montessori preschool in Portland, and in her free time she enjoys biking, knitting, and exploring the outdoors.

Brittany Finch
Promotions Co-Chair
Brittany (she/her) is an administrative professional and notary public with experience supporting executives and teams through project management, operations, and workplace culture initiatives, gained through her time at Intel.
Known for her strong interpersonal skills and mix of problem-solving, organization, and people-focused experience, Brittany excels at fostering collaboration, creating clarity, and helping teams succeed. She brings a blend of humor, creativity, and authenticity to her work.
Outside the office, she enjoys gardening, camping, and a variety of creative pursuits including quilting and baking.

Derek Cheng
Youth Secretary
Derek Cheng is a junior in high school. After graduating from high school, he plans to get a computer science degree. In his free time, Derek enjoys thrifting, cooking, hanging out with friends, and showcasing his creativity through sewing and organization. He believes in the importance of community connection and strives to bring people together. Through BDA, he hopes to enhance his organizational skills and put it for the better use in the community.

Allison Choi
Youth Vice Chair
Allison is a senior at Westview High School and serves as the Vice Chair on the board for BDAYC. Allison is the captain at her school, and helped her team achieve the state and metro league championship title. She is also an active tennis player outside of school. Furthermore, Allison is intrigued in helping out for her community- she has been a volunteer since her freshmen year and also leads a non-profit organization that focuses on distributing female hygiene products to all struggling women in Portland. She hopes to grow as a leader as she advocates for issues she’s passionate about and makes Beaverton a wonderful experience for everyone.

Dhatri Dinavahi
Youth PR Chair
Dhatri is a current junior in high school. After high school, she hopes to pursue a degree in business. Along with volunteering for the community and partaking in various organizations to gain business experience, Dhatri hopes to expand her understanding of the local area. Through BDA, she hopes to promote the identity of Beaverton as a community via social media and use the skills she gains toward her future goals. In her free time, Dhatri enjoys napping.
